Job Title: Seafood Associate Team Leader

As a Seafood Associate Team Leader at Whole Foods Market, you will play a key role in ensuring the success of our seafood department. You will assist the team leader in all aspects of daily operations, including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects. You will also lead and develop team members, ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Maintain Creative Store Layout and Product Merchandising: Create visually appealing store displays and product arrangements that drive sales and customer engagement.
  • Work with Team Leader to Achieve Sales, Purchasing, and Labor Targets: Collaborate with the team leader to set and achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets, ensuring the department meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Assist Team Leader in Analysis of Sales, Reports, and Labor: Provide support to the team leader in analyzing sales data, reports, and labor metrics to inform business decisions and drive improvement.
  • Assist Team Leader in Annual Sales and Expense Projections and Budget Preparation: Help the team leader develop and manage annual sales and expense projections, as well as prepare budgets to ensure the department operates within financial guidelines.
  • Assist Team Leader with Ordering and Inventory Management: Support the team leader in managing inventory levels, ordering products, and ensuring accurate stock levels to meet customer demand.
  • Work with Team Leader to Resolve Team Concerns or Issues: Collaborate with the team leader to address team concerns, resolve conflicts, and maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Function as Point Person and Departmental Person in Charge in Absence of Team Leader: Take on additional responsibilities and lead the department in the absence of the team leader, ensuring seamless operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Set and Achieve the Highest Standards of Retail Execution: Strive for excellence in all aspects of retail execution, including visual merchandising, product knowledge, and customer service.
  • Foster and Encourage a Positive Environment of Outstanding Teamwork, Mutual Respect, and Exceptional Morale: Promote a positive and inclusive work environment, encouraging teamwork, respect, and exceptional morale among team members.
  • Maintain Awareness of Customer Flows and Needs and Direct Team Members as Necessary to Satisfy and Delight Customers: Monitor customer traffic and needs, directing team members to ensure exceptional customer service and satisfaction.
  • Select, Train, Develop, Mentor, Motivate, and Counsel Team Members in a Manner that Sustains a High-Performance Team and Minimizes Turnover: Recruit, train, and develop team members to achieve high performance, while minimizing turnover and ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
  • Communicate and Maintain Team Member Safety and Security Standards: Ensure team members are aware of and adhere to safety and security protocols, maintaining a safe and secure work environment.
  • Consistently Communicate and Model WFM Vision and Goals: Embody the Whole Foods Market vision and goals, communicating them to team members and ensuring alignment with company values and objectives.

Experience:
  • 18+ Months Retail Team Member Experience and 6+ Months of Supervisory Experience: Possess a minimum of 18 months of retail team member experience and 6 months of supervisory experience, demonstrating a strong foundation in retail operations and leadership.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
  • Must Be Able to Lift 50 Pounds: Meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
