We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Pre-Kindergarten Teacher to join our team at Healthy Kids Programs in New Windsor, NY.

Job Summary:

The Pre-K program provides four-year-old children with a universal opportunity to access high-quality pre-kindergarten programs that prepare them for future school success. As a Pre-Kindergarten Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate program for PreK students, meeting UPK School District requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate program for PreK students, meeting UPK School District requirements.
  • Plan, prepare, and teach well-developed culturally responsive lessons.
  • Assess, track, and provide relevant and timely feedback on the achievement and developmental needs of students.
  • Use age-appropriate and positive guidance strategies to teach, encourage, and redirect inappropriate classroom behavior.
  • Build relationships with staff and families through positive and professional communication, creating a welcoming environment, respecting diversity, and encouraging parent participation in the program.
  • Work collaboratively with teacher assistants.
  • Design the room layout for success using ECERS (Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale).
  • Developing activities that promote literacy and math concepts – following the Creative Curriculum.
  • Participating in ongoing in-service and education development opportunities, and participating in the ongoing development and evaluation of the program's goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Current NYS teaching certificate valid for service in the early childhood grades.
  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred).
  • Experience teaching preschool-age children.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Please note applicants for this position will be required to complete standard background screenings which include fingerprinting, NYS child abuse clearance, physical & TB test.
  • Must pass a full background check, including fingerprinting, references.
  • Warm, friendly, caring, upbeat personality. Exceptional people skills in dealing with young children, parents, and staff. Professional, reliable, and prompt.
  • Must have the stamina and physical flexibility (walking, sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, pulling, running, reaching, climbing, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.) without assistance to participate in children's activities.
