Role Overview

As a key member of our kindergarten team, you will support the head teachers in preparing and delivering a comprehensive curriculum that fosters students' social, emotional, and academic growth in both English and Mandarin Chinese languages. Your expertise will be instrumental in creating a target language classroom environment that encourages learning and promotes cultural awareness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of kindergarten curriculum and instruction using Mandarin Chinese language skills.
  • Collaborate with head teachers to establish a target language classroom environment that promotes language acquisition and cultural understanding.
  • Support students' social, emotional, and academic growth in both English and Mandarin Chinese languages.
  • Assist with the preparation and administration of assignments, ensuring that they are aligned with the curriculum and meet the language targets of identified students or subgroups.
  • Monitor student social and cultural growth to inform teaching methodologies and support the development of culturally responsive practices.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Bilingual/Bicultural Education, Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, Chinese Language and Literature, Linguistics, and Applied Linguistics, or a related field.
  • One academic year of experience teaching early childhood instruction in an immersion setting.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Mandarin Chinese.
