About the Position

St. Michael's Catholic Preparatory School is seeking a skilled School Nurse Substitute to join our team. As a Health and Wellness Expert, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide quality nursing care to ill or injured students or faculty/staff during the school day
  • Manage school health records in accordance with state and diocesan requirements
  • Initiate contact with home, school, community health agencies, and the private medical sector to enhance the health and wellness of the school community
  • Maintain accurate medical records to ensure compliance with state mandates, including immunizations, physical examinations, and medical conditions
  • Develop and maintain school health policies
  • Coordinate student health curriculum with the physical education department
  • Multitask and manage well the simultaneous needs of diabetic students and medication or first aid administration to other students
Requirements
  • Knowledge of children's intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development
  • Excellent communication skills, both with children and adults
  • Care, good judgment, and confidentiality in working with students and parents
  • Strong organizational skills
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification
  • Minimum of two years' professional nursing experience, preferably in a school or pediatric setting
