Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Substitute Teacher to join our team at Diocese of Austin Catholic Schools. As a Substitute Teacher, you will be responsible for providing students with a safe and effective learning environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

Responsibilities
  • Reports to the Director of Academics at the beginning of the day to pick up the schedule of classes and at the end of the day to provide a brief report.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans for the lesson, units, or projects assigned.
  • Provides classroom teacher with written feedback on the results of the lesson and any student behavior issues.
  • Employs instructional methods that are most appropriate for meeting the unique learning needs of all students.
  • Performs duties usually required of absent teacher such as recess and lunch duty, hall monitoring, etc.
  • Insures that the students are never left unattended in the classroom.
  • Knows emergency evacuation routes for the classrooms assigned.
  • Knows school procedures and regulations.
  • At the end of the day, leaves the classroom in a neat and orderly fashion. Straightens chairs, tables, clears white boards, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by the Director of Academics.
Requirements
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree and prior years' experience.
  • Positive attitude towards students, staff, and faculty.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication (written and verbal).
  • Exceptional organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
