Job Overview:
MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center seeks a skilled Admissions Coordinator to facilitate seamless patient admissions and transfers, ensuring timely access to quality care. About the Role:
This part-time position offers an opportunity to join our dedicated team of healthcare professionals, working collaboratively to provide compassionate and personalized care to patients from diverse backgrounds. As an Admissions Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating patient flow, facilitating communication between healthcare providers, and ensuring compliance with clinical standards and guidelines.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate patient admissions and transfers, utilizing Mercy First Call Centers process flows to optimize access and capacity.
  • Facilitate ED to ED communication, physician-to-physician communication, and direct transfer of calls for trauma alerts, stroke alerts, and level I Cardiac patients.
  • Accurately complete First Call Center databases and update Electronic Bed Boards with bed assignments.
  • Collaborate with nursing unit Clinical Leaders/Charge Nurses in making patient bed assignments, monitoring inpatient bed status, and upgrading bed cleaning status via the electronic bed board.

Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
  • A graduate degree in nursing from an accredited school and current RN licensure in the state of Iowa.
  • Five years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in Critical Care or the Emergency Room.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt positively to a rapidly changing healthcare environment.
