Senior Medical Assistant

The role involves providing comprehensive support to healthcare practitioners and the clinical team in managing patient care effectively. Under the indirect supervision of the clinic nursing supervisor and with guidance from the charge nurse or staff nurse, the Medical Assistant III will perform a variety of clinical, administrative, and patient care tasks to ensure high-quality service delivery within the healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with patients, families, and healthcare team members in a professional and courteous manner, fostering positive relationships and addressing concerns.
- Collect and document vital signs, medical histories, and other essential patient information, demonstrating critical thinking and attention to detail. Report any significant changes in patient conditions to the practitioner promptly.
- Prepare examination rooms and assist practitioners during various medical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment is ready and functioning.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to prioritize patient care based on individual needs and urgency.
- Educate patients and their families on medical procedures, treatments, and follow-up care as directed by healthcare providers.
- Maintain accurate and organized clinical records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Support the clinical team by managing appointment scheduling, patient referrals, and insurance authorizations, working closely with administrative staff.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients and staff by adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining equipment.
- Assist with the preparation and processing of medical specimens as required, following established procedures.
- Communicate effectively with team members to relay important patient information and updates, ensuring continuity of care.
- Handle patient inquiries and non-clinical concerns with professionalism, directing clinical issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance skills and maintain competency in clinical practices.
