Accounting Assistant Job Summary

The Accounting Assistant will provide general accounting and clerical support to the accounting team by handling a variety of tasks related to the accounting function.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform general accounting duties as assigned.
  • Complete basic data entry tasks, including logging transactions and other information.
  • Enter data from job documents into an electronic database.
  • Verify data/entries by comparing source documents.
  • Assist with other clerical duties as needed for the accounting function, including scanning, copying, and filing of documents.
  • Collaborate with other departments and research information as needed.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, including safety protocols.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of office and/or related clerical experience.
  • Fast, accurate data entry or keyboarding skills.
  • General computer competency, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work overtime with little notice and occasional weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • HVAC industry or construction experience.
  • 2+ years of accounting assistant experience.
  • Basic accounting knowledge.
Working Conditions:
  • Open office environment.
  • Fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift/move up to 10 pounds frequently.
  • Frequent tasks requiring bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Ability to adhere to long periods of standing, walking, or sitting.
  • Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds to operate phones or other office equipment safely.
  • Ability to see and focus for close, distance, peripheral vision with normal depth perception.
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to others.
  • Ability to enter text or data into a computer by means of a traditional keyboard or 10-key numeric keypad.
  • Ability to use arms and hands to reach overhead, signal, grab, hold, lift, turn, push, and pull objects and tools.
