The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. The division provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.
We have a need for a Materials Science Intern to provide onsite support out of a secure location. The successful intern will work alongside an Unavailable mentor in support of DTRA Research & Development programs concerning Direct Energy and Nuclear Technologies.
Responsibilities
- Provide analytical support to DTRA Research & Development programs.
- Work alongside an Unavailable mentor to develop leading edge technologies to counter WMD.
- Assist in the development of technical reports and presentations.
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in a Master's or PhD program in Solid State Physics, Materials Engineering, or Material Science.
- Have well-articulated willingness to learn program/organizational processes and procedures.
- Have a proven track record of fundamental and novel research.
- Demonstrate creative thinking and strong problem-solving skills.
- Have strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to delve into technical details and translate those into findings and recommendations.
- U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret or Top-Secret security clearance.
