Job Summary

The Sales Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service and ensuring a seamless shopping experience for our customers. This role involves operating a cash register, processing transactions, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service
    • Project a positive image of Westlake Ace Hardware and provide exceptional customer service to all customers.
    • Greet customers entering and throughout the store, and thank them by name when possible.
    • Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently, and answer and monitor all calls and pages promptly and courteously.
    • Communicate any problems or issues that require management assistance, and continually build product knowledge to assist customers with store layout and product location.
  • Register Operations
    • Follow all cash register transaction procedures, and be responsible for balancing the register drawer.
    • Adhere to any store programs or promotions that require implementation at the cash registers, and participate in store and sales associate meetings.
  • Store Appearance and Maintenance
    • Keep the store, including checkout areas and entrance doors, neat and clean at all times, and face and dust the front end.
    • Assist with keeping impulse counters stocked and faced, and rotate fresh merchandise as seasons change.
    • Ensure fresh ads are stocked in shopping carts at all times, and ensure forms and supplies are stocked at all times.
    • Assist with decorating the front end according to the store program, and call for cart pickups when necessary.
    • Inform management when merchandise returns need to be put away, and perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Requirements
    • High school diploma or equivalent required, and previous cash handling and customer service experience preferred.
    • Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, and climb, and a disciplined approach to achieving outstanding results through continuous improvement.
