About the Position

The School of Art and Design at Alfred University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Video Art and Design to begin January 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to join a faculty team dedicated to student success and excellence in teaching, research, and creative practice.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a range of courses in video art and design, including introductory and advanced classes, as well as electives and special topics courses.
  • Develop and maintain a strong research and creative practice in video art and design, with a focus on innovative and critically engaged models of art and design.
  • Contribute to the School of Art and Design's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community of artists, designers, and citizens.
  • Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work, curriculum development, and recruitment efforts.
  • Maintain a commitment to excellence and impact in teaching, research, and creative practice, and to contributing to the university's overall success.
Requirements
  • Minimum qualifications include an M.F.A. or its equivalent.
  • Active professional creative practice in video art and design.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence and impact in teaching, research, and creative practice.
  • Three years of college-level teaching experience is preferred.
