Job Opportunity: Assistant Professor of Photography

The School of Art & Design at Alfred University's New York State College of Ceramics invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Photography to join our faculty team. As a key member of our Division of Expanded Media, you will play a vital role in shaping the photography program and contributing to student success.

Responsibilities
  • Teach introductory through advanced levels of photography, including courses in analog and digital photographic processes, photographic history and theory, and visual culture.
  • Develop and maintain an active exhibition record at the national and international level, engaging with contemporary photography and visual culture.
  • Participate in faculty rotation in the Foundations Program, contributing to the development of our students' skills and knowledge.
  • Mentor and support students in their creative and academic pursuits, fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.
  • Engage with the issues of contemporary photography and visual culture, staying up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in the field.
Requirements
  • Minimum qualifications include an M.F.A. or its equivalent.
  • Active professional creative practice, with a strong exhibition record at the national and international level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence and impact in teaching, with a focus on student success and engagement.
  • Three years of college-level teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
