Eye Center Nursing Support Staff

We're looking for a detail-oriented and compassionate Nursing Care Assistant I to join our team at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. As a key member of our nursing team, you will be responsible for providing direct care to patients and supporting our healthcare professionals.
About the RoleThis position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative and supportive environment, contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care. You will work closely with Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses to perform various tasks related to patient care, including preparing patients, equipment, and supplies for specific procedures, administering treatment and personal care procedures, and assisting with admission, discharge, and transportation of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, deliver, and conduct routine tests on patient specimens, clean assigned areas, stock, and replenish supplies and equipment as required.
- Participate in own professional development by maintaining required skills validation and attending educational offerings, supporting the development of other staff and formal learners.
- Perform fingersticks for blood glucose testing, with appropriate training, document, and notify RN/LPN.
Requirements:
- Completion of a Level I - Nurse Aide education program approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing or successful completion of the NC-approved Nurse Aide I competency test.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Currently listed as a Nursing Assistant I (NA I) with the Division of Facility Services with no substantiated findings of abuse, fraud, neglect, or misappropriation of property.
