Family Support Specialist

At Volunteers of America, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Coordinator to join our team. As a Family Coordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting and empowering families transitioning from homelessness or housing insecurity to stable housing.
Key Responsibilities:- Housing Case Management: Conduct thorough assessments of family needs and develop individualized service plans to ensure families receive comprehensive support.
- Coordination of Services: Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure families receive comprehensive support, including referrals to external agencies for specialized services and support.
- Advocacy and Empowerment: Advocate for the needs and rights of families within the housing project and the broader community, empowering families by providing information, resources, and support to enhance their self-sufficiency.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all housing case management activities and resident interactions, preparing regular reports on family progress, service utilization, and program outcomes.
- Community Building: Foster a sense of community among residents through the organization of events and activities, mediating conflicts and facilitating communication between residents and staff.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in housing case management, social services, or a related field, with a preference for experience working with child welfare involved families or families experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
- Skills: In-depth knowledge of local community resources and experience in developing and maintaining community partnerships, demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB).
We offer a competitive salary range of $50,000-$55,000 annually, medical, dental, and vision insurance, 403(b) retirement plan, HSA and FSA programs, employer-paid life insurance, short-term/long-term disability, and quality training and continuing career education opportunities.
