As a Registered Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality medical care and treatment to animals, ensuring their health and well-being.
Key Responsibilities- Perform physical examinations and administer emergency treatment to animals, recording findings and evaluating health status.
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, restrain animals during procedures, and make observations on the health of sheltered animals.
- Administer anesthesia, apply casts and splints, perform dental extractions, and suture existing skin incisions.
- Perform venipuncture, digital radiographs, and laboratory tests, and prepare patients for surgery.
- Obtain and prepare laboratory specimens for rabies testing, ensuring safe handling, transportation, and disposal.
- Assist in determining adoptability, recommending animals for foster care, and preparing animals for euthanasia.
- Plan, assign, and review the work of kennel staff, ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of animal enclosures.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years of full-time experience as a licensed Registered Veterinary Technician.
- Possess and maintain a valid certification as a Registered Veterinary Technician issued by the State of California Veterinary Medical Board.
- Possess and maintain a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
