Position Overview

The Director of Regulatory Affairs plays a crucial role in the strategic planning, organization, execution, and assessment of compliance initiatives aimed at safeguarding patient welfare and enhancing quality standards. This leadership position is pivotal in ensuring adherence to Federal, State, and local regulatory mandates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee accreditation and certification processes, ensuring alignment with standards set by relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Facilitate communication regarding regulatory matters, including staff training and policy development.
  • Coordinate both virtual and in-person evaluations by external regulatory and accreditation organizations.
  • Manage onsite mock evaluations conducted by external consultants or internal accreditation teams.
  • Design and implement corrective action plans and monitoring strategies to sustain compliance improvements.
  • Collaborate on special initiatives as required, providing expertise and guidance.
  • Act as a resource for both internal and external stakeholders, offering consultation on regulatory issues.
  • Engage in committees within the organization or health system to promote regulatory awareness and compliance.

Qualifications

  • A Master's Degree in a healthcare-related field is preferred, with a background in nursing, public health, or a related clinical discipline being advantageous.
  • 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in healthcare, demonstrating a strong understanding of accreditation and certification processes.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a managerial role.
  • Experience in regulatory compliance, quality improvement, patient safety, risk management, or project management is preferred.
  • Must hold a license or certification in a healthcare-related discipline.
  • Certification as a Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) is preferred.
