Job Summary

The Patient Advocate role at Elevate Patient Financial Solutions is a dynamic opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of patients in need. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for connecting uninsured hospital patients with programs that will cover their medical expenses. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to navigate complex government programs and hospital systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Screen uninsured hospital patients to determine eligibility for federal, state, and county medical or disability assistance
• Complete applications and follow through until approved
• Provide exceptional customer service skills at all times
• Participate in ongoing trainings to stay up-to-date on government programs and hospital systems
• Maintain assigned work queue of patient accounts
• Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors
• Answer incoming telephone calls, make outbound calls, and track paperwork necessary to submit enrollment and renewal for prospective Medicaid patients
• Maintain structured and timely contact with applicants and responsible government agencies
• Assist applicants with gathering additional reports or records, meeting appointment dates and times, and arranging transportation as needed
• Request home visits as needed to acquire documentation
• Inform clients in a timely manner of all approvals and denials of coverage
• Participate in additional training requirements to stay abreast of changing rules and regulations
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities:

• Some college coursework preferred
• Prior hospital experience preferred
• Adaptability when dealing with constantly changing processes, computer systems, and government programs
• Professional experience working with state and federal programs
• Critical thinking skills
• Ability to maneuver throughout the hospital and patients' rooms
• Proficient experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel and Outlook
• Effectively communicate both orally and written, to a variety of individuals
• Ability to multitask and function in a fast-paced environment
• Remote and hybrid positions require a home internet connection that meets the company's upload and download speed criteria

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, location, specialty, and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
