Job Description

Performance Contracting is seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our summer internship program. As a project engineer intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the specialty construction industry and develop a solid foundation in construction management.

Throughout the internship, you will work closely with our experienced team members to complete various tasks and projects. You will have the opportunity to learn about different aspects of the construction process, including project scheduling, labor control, and material handling. You will also have the chance to work directly with owners, construction managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to gain a deeper understanding of the industry.

As a project engineer intern, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the preparation of proposals and bid analysis
  • Learning about project scheduling and labor control
  • Understanding and demonstrating project management skills
  • Attending pre-bid walk-throughs and learning about construction processes
  • Assisting in the preparation of quantity take-offs and maintaining accurate project documentation
  • Learning about the administration of the corporate safety program and ensuring job site safety
  • Understanding specialized equipment utilization and tracking material handling costs

We offer a competitive hourly wage of $22, relocation reimbursement, and corporate housing options for all interns. Upon completion of the internship, each intern will receive an evaluation that will be considered for future employment opportunities with the company.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student seeking a Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or comparable degree
  • Reliable source of transportation
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Clear understanding of how to read and understand specifications and drawings
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to learn new job skills and apply them as taught
  • Customer service skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask

Preferred Requirements:

  • Demonstrated baseline construction knowledge acquired through relevant work experience or completion of a second-year construction management/engineering curriculum
  • Basic knowledge of BlueBeam, AutoCAD, and/or OnScreen Takeoff
