We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology and Pain Management Specialist to join our team at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialized care for patients requiring pain management, teaching this discipline to medical students and residents, and conducting clinical research studies.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching and Education
- Develop and deliver lectures, seminars, and conferences for residents and students
- Participate in Neurology/Neurosurgery grand rounds
- Conduct clinical teaching of pain management to neurology and other housestaff and medical students
- Patient Care and Service
- Develop and maintain a professional practice in accordance with departmental policy and the University practice plan
- Conduct outpatient clinics related to pain management, including new and established visits, injection and interventional procedures, and chemodenervation
- Develop a multi-disciplinary clinical program for pain management in conjunction with SIU and MMC Spineworks Multidisciplinary Pain Clinic
- Administration and Research
- Participate in scheduled meetings as a member of the hospital staff
- Serve on university, departmental, and hospital committees as needed
- Clinical research studies, including multicenter therapeutic trials and self-initiated studies of pain management
- Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations
- Licensed as a physician and anesthesiologist in the State of Illinois with interest and special expertise in pain management
- Board eligible or board certified in Anesthesiology, Neurology, Pain Medicine & Rehabilitation
- Board certified or board eligible in Pain Medicine
