Position Summary:

The Library Services Associate will engage with patrons across various age groups, assisting them in navigating library resources, creating accounts, and locating materials. This role involves shelving items, utilizing library technology, answering inquiries, and facilitating educational programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver exceptional service to library patrons.
  • Manage and maintain library patron accounts.
  • Inspect and organize library materials.
  • Assist patrons in finding and utilizing library resources.
  • Facilitate the use of public computers and other technology.
  • Plan and execute library events and programs for diverse audiences.
  • Create engaging displays of library materials.
  • Collect and maintain usage statistics.
  • Enforce library policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional related tasks as required.

Qualifications:
  • Experience in customer service is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with the public.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor's degree and prior library experience are preferred.
  • Familiarity with library cataloging systems is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in using computers and various software applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Work Environment:
  • Work is typically performed in a library setting, involving various physical activities such as sitting, standing, and bending.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and stand for extended periods is necessary.
  • Flexible scheduling is required, including evenings and weekends.
