We are currently seeking a talented individual for the role of Senior Surety Underwriter.

Position Overview

The Senior Surety Underwriter will play a vital role in managing a significant portfolio of surety business within the Latin American region as part of our global underwriting team. Key responsibilities include:
  • Overseeing the management of the existing surety portfolio in Latin America.
  • Conducting renewals, monitoring, and developing the portfolio.
  • Engaging with brokers and clients at industry conferences.
  • Performing client visits and executing related underwriting assessments.
  • Evaluating all surety treaty and facultative proposals.
  • Reviewing and underwriting special acceptance submissions from clients.
  • Collaborating with team leaders and product heads in New York and Europe, providing quarterly insights on market conditions and portfolio profitability, while working closely with claims and actuarial teams.
  • Maintaining aggregate control by principal, cedent, country, and underwriting year.
  • Monitoring exposure across principals and other group units to ensure compliance with tolerance levels.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of primary surety underwriting experience in the Latin American market.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
  • Experience with guaranty-related products (trade credit & political risk, mortgage risk) is advantageous.
  • Exceptional communication and marketing skills with a client-centric approach.
  • Strong financial and economic background, proficient in financial analysis, including the ability to interpret financial statements.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% for client and broker engagements and industry events.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
Work Schedule

We support an agile work schedule tailored to individual roles, local office practices, and market trends. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for three days in the office each week, with the remaining days working remotely.
