About the Job

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the team at Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration as a Dental Laboratory Technician. As a key member of our dental laboratory team, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality dental prosthetics to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Construct and repair dental prosthetic appliances, including full dentures, removable partial dentures, fixed partial dentures, crowns, and special appliances.
  • Use precision instruments, such as articulators, surveyors, and microanalyzers, to ensure accurate and precise construction of dental prosthetics.
  • Work closely with dentists and other healthcare professionals to design and fabricate custom dental prosthetics.
  • Maintain accurate records of metal usage, patient information, and other relevant data.
  • Provide education and training to other clinic personnel on dental laboratory procedures and techniques.
Requirements
  • One year of specialized experience in dental laboratory technology, including experience with dental laboratory materials, equipment, and techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and achieve goals.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, dentists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects, including plaster boxes weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to plaster dust, chemicals, and other hazards.
Working Conditions

This position requires regular and recurring exposure to potential hazards of plaster dust, fire, chemical exposure, and communicable diseases. The lab technician will wear face masks, protective glasses, and use special aseptic techniques when handling impressions or other items that are a potential infection hazard.
