About the Role

Packsize is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our R&D Hardware team. As a Mechanical Sustaining Engineer, you will play a critical role in the ongoing development and sustainment of our packaging systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage CAD data and machine documentation, communicating effectively with manufacturers and the organization.
  • Provide system-level machine design input, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Assist in the design, analysis, and testing of mechanical components and assemblies for design improvements.
  • Document and implement new designs and design changes using ECOs and ECNs.
  • Participate in design reviews, providing input and expertise to ensure high-quality designs.
  • Oversee testing for design verification, design validation, and continuation engineering.
  • Collaborate with the Product Quality team to investigate issues and obtain feedback on machine performance.
  • Work closely with other engineers to develop and implement engineering design best practices.
  • Conceive and write product requirements and test plans.
  • Enable the successful transfer of new machine designs to production.
  • Engage in continuous improvement activities, driving innovation and efficiency within the team.
Requirements
  • BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced SolidWorks user with experience in automation technology, industrial automation design, and system architecture.
  • Promotes the scientific method and engineering best practices.
  • Knowledgeable in design for manufacturing and serviceability, with experience in PDM/PLM tools and software.
  • Track record of successful sustaining engineering and project management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in team environments.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs or embedded systems, machine automation, and programming.
  • Demonstrate lean and design thinking disciplines and mindsets.
  • Ability to read and reasonably follow electrical and pneumatics schematics.
