Overview
The role involves ensuring the prompt delivery and collection of patient meal trays and nutritional items. This position serves as a liaison between patients and the dietary team, conveying patient preferences and dietary restrictions effectively. Additionally, it includes monitoring inventory levels and maintaining adequate supplies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitates the delivery and collection of patient meal trays and nourishment, advocating for the dietary needs and preferences of patients.
    •Delivers meal trays to designated areas, greeting patients according to established protocols.
    •Gathers feedback and evaluates service quality regarding food provisions.
    •Ensures patients receive appropriate meals and are satisfied with their dining experience prior to leaving the room.
    •Prepares and delivers nutritional items at scheduled times.
    •Collects used trays from assigned areas post-meal service.
    •Records patient dietary preferences and allergies in the dietary management system.
    •Directs any nutrition-related inquiries to the clinical dietitian and non-nutrition issues to nursing staff.
    •Maintains familiarity with menu options, ingredients, and commonly ordered diets.
  • Communicates essential information to the next shift regarding patient needs. Reports any issues affecting patient care and satisfaction to management.
  • Adheres to the established dress code for the role.
  • Collaborates effectively with team members and customers to ensure high-quality service through clear communication and teamwork.
    •Engages with patients, families, and hospital staff in a respectful and courteous manner, promoting patient satisfaction.
    •Assists colleagues as needed to maintain optimal operational efficiency.
    •Addresses inquiries and resolves issues related to assigned responsibilities.
  • Upholds confidentiality regarding patient and departmental information, complying with all relevant policies and regulations.
  • Maintains accurate departmental records and reports, following established procedures and guidelines, with a focus on compliance and quality improvement.
  • Ensures a clean, organized, and safe environment for patients and staff.
    •Cleans and maintains department equipment and supplies, utilizing resources efficiently.
    •Reports any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Provides coverage for colleagues during absences, demonstrating flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Completes mandatory training and educational requirements specific to the department.
  • Performs additional duties as necessary.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience is required.
  • Must possess the qualifications through education, training, or experience to work with diverse patient populations, including children, adults, and seniors.
  • Preferred: At least six months of experience in institutional food service within a healthcare environment, particularly with therapeutic diets.
