Position Summary
The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring superior product quality through various key activities:
- Engage directly with suppliers to uphold product standards by performing audits and site visits (10%-20% travel required).
- Conduct assessments on measurement system variations, formulate inspection strategies, and lead teams in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), including organizing Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs), Control Plans, and Production Part Approval Processes (PPAPs).
- Apply industry standards to enhance and maintain product quality control, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
- Drive the adoption of innovative methods and systems, collaborating with manufacturing and inspection teams to provide essential training for effective implementation.
- Oversee the coordination of a statistical process control system, ensuring its successful operation.
- Manage the daily operations of the Quality Management System, making necessary adjustments to improve quality and reduce costs through Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Work closely with Project Engineers to facilitate APQP activities, including the development of PFMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP documentation.
The ideal candidate for the Supplier Quality Engineer role will possess:
- A degree in Engineering or a related discipline (B.S./A.S.) along with a minimum of three years of relevant experience in quality control, quality assurance, or manufacturing environments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of quality systems, including familiarity with ISO 13485, ISO 9001, AS9100, and experience in managing Production Part Approval Processes (PPAPs).
- Hands-on experience in machining operations and inspection methodologies.
- Strong understanding of gage calibration, Statistical Process Control (SPC), geometric tolerancing, inspection techniques, Material Review Board (MRB) processes, corrective action resolution, and first article inspection.
- Ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute APQP initiatives.
- Proven experience in utilizing statistical process control systems, conducting Measurement System Analysis (MSA) studies, and performing thorough root cause analyses.
