Position Overview

This role is situated within the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), specifically in the Environmental Management Section.

The primary responsibility of this position is to act as a knowledgeable Environmental Compliance Advisor, overseeing initiatives that ensure adherence to environmental regulations. This includes the effective management of hazardous materials and the development and execution of the DEA's Environmental Management System (EMS) Program.

Role Responsibilities

As an Environmental Compliance Advisor, your typical duties may encompass:
  • Designing and implementing the DEA's Environmental Management System (EMS) Program.
  • Acting as a consultant for DEA field offices.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental standards and promoting accountability, efficiency, and sustainable practices throughout the DEA.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert on various environmental statutes and regulations.
  • Preparing reports for compliance inspections.
  • Overseeing contracts related to designated environmental programs.
Employment Conditions

  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Selective Service: Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered or exempt.
  • Successful completion of the E-Verify employment verification process is required.
  • Incumbent may be subject to random drug testing.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background investigation and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
  • Submission of a Financial Disclosure Statement is necessary.
  • Certification as a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) is required within 12 months of assignment.
Qualifications

Applicants must fulfill all qualification requirements by the closing of this announcement. If qualifying based on education, a copy of your college transcript must be submitted.

Applicants for the GS-13 level must meet one of the following criteria:

A. Possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level, which includes:

1) Managing environmental programs in accordance with regulations; 2) Preparing and reviewing environmental assessments and reports; and 3) Providing guidance on waste management to stakeholders.
