Position Overview:

The Clinical Quality Manager plays a pivotal role in steering the clinical quality management initiatives within the Medical Staff. This position encompasses responsibilities related to Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE), Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE), peer review processes, and contributing to quality improvement projects associated with the Medical Staff. The role also includes oversight of the External Peer Review program and related services. The manager will gather, validate, and analyze data on outcomes and process variances to support patient safety and enhance the quality of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate all clinical quality enhancement activities, including peer reviews and morbidity and mortality reviews, in collaboration with clinical department leaders.
  • Conduct thorough retrospective reviews of medical records to support quality and safety initiatives, adhering to guidelines from regulatory bodies.
  • Facilitate and organize peer review committees to ensure effective evaluation processes.
  • Coordinate Clinical Services Council meetings, which oversee medical staff quality initiatives and report directly to the Medical Executive Committee.
  • Ensure that FPPE is conducted for all newly appointed medical staff and in response to any quality concerns, in accordance with established standards.
  • Organize OPPE activities as mandated by regulatory standards.
  • Oversee the network's External Peer Review program in line with agreements with affiliate hospitals.

Qualifications:

  • Current or compact state license as a registered nurse as defined by the relevant state regulations.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of clinical nursing experience is required.
  • Understanding of performance improvement principles, data sampling, collection, and analysis related to patient care.
  • Ability to foster positive working relationships with medical staff and hospital personnel, demonstrating effective communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications is required, with advanced skills in software, spreadsheets, and databases preferred.
