Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of CSU Director. This position requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as a deep understanding of the juvenile justice system and its complexities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the court service unit, ensuring effective operations and management of human and capital resources.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders, community partners, and the judiciary to achieve common goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with departmental, state, local, and judicial requirements.
  • Manage and oversee the administration and evaluation of criminal justice practices and program needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, including law enforcement, social services, and other relevant agencies.
Requirements
  • Considerable knowledge of federal, state, local, and public laws and ordinances relating to criminal justice.
  • Considerable experience managing or supervising a unit or multiple employees, including personnel management and leading organizational goals and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively and establishing collaborative relationships with all levels of staff, partner agencies, and community stakeholders.
  • Experience overseeing the administration and evaluation of criminal justice practices and program needs.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices within criminal justice programming.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and procurement practices.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Progressive supervisory experience in a juvenile court service unit setting.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Experience utilizing automated case management systems.
