We are seeking a highly skilled Chemist II/III to join our team in Ann Arbor. As a key member of our research and development team, you will be responsible for project-based lab developments, testing, and analysis of defoamer products and formulations for various industries, with a primary focus on pulp and paper applications.

  • Develop and implement new defoamer products and formulations to meet customer needs and improve product performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production and quality initiatives, including new product scale-up, customer complaint resolution, and quality issue resolution.
  • Provide technical support to sales teams, including sample requests, market analysis, and product information.
  • Maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment, including setup and maintenance of testing equipment and upgrading the lab as needed.
  • Travel up to 30% for customer visits and industry conferences.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in organic or polymer chemistry; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in lab synthesis and formulation, with a strong understanding of analytical tools such as NMR, GC-MS, SEC, AFM, and particle size analyzer.
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly, with strong problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills, with the ability to summarize lab experiments and data into clear reports and presentations.
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation, with a commitment to high-quality results.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.
