The Vice President of Underwriting Operations will be instrumental in spearheading new business initiatives, nurturing relationships with clients and partners, and guiding our proficient team of New Business Underwriters.

The VP of Underwriting Operations will have a hybrid work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the underwriting team in pursuing new business opportunities and expanding existing programs.
  • Manage client and partner relationships to ensure satisfaction and adherence to program administration agreements.
  • Drive strategic planning to meet annual new business objectives.
  • Identify product development opportunities and negotiate with insurance carriers to enhance program offerings.
  • Oversee underwriting processes, guidelines, and best practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and carrier requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key agents and brokers, striving to exceed client expectations.
  • Coach and mentor team members, helping them to define and achieve shared goals.
  • Evaluate program actuarial outcomes and negotiate corrective actions with carriers.
  • Monitor premium and rate variances, participating in pricing reviews, budget planning, and territory assessments.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in business is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years in Commercial Lines Underwriting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • High proficiency in technology related to policy issuance platforms and report generation.
  • CPCU or CIC designation is a plus.
  • Exceptional presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with executives, demonstrating professionalism and social awareness.

The base salary for the successful candidate will be determined based on various compensable factors, including job-relevant education, experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other relevant factors. Discretionary incentive compensation may also be available.
