Position Overview
This role as a Lead Air Traffic Control Operations Manager is integral to the Air National Guard Units.

Key Responsibilities
The primary objective of this position is to oversee and coordinate Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower and Radar Approach Control (RAPCON) operations. The incumbent will manage all aspects of personnel, organizational structure, training initiatives, and resource allocation for ATC functions.

Operational Management
Responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical and administrative oversight to subordinate staff.
  • Establishing priorities and delegating tasks to shift supervisors.
  • Interpreting and implementing directives from higher authorities and regulatory bodies.
  • Resolving complex operational challenges and keeping leadership informed of significant issues.
  • Assessing airspace needs and negotiating with relevant authorities for modifications.

Technical Proficiency
The role requires maintaining up-to-date technical and administrative expertise in ATC to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and directives. This includes:

  • Developing and formalizing agreements related to facility operations.
  • Implementing noise abatement strategies and serving as a liaison for community concerns.
  • Ensuring optimal operational levels for ATC services and equipment.
  • Creating and managing facility shift schedules and operational procedures.

Safety and Compliance
The incumbent will also be responsible for:

  • Conducting aircraft accident investigations and ensuring timely reporting to oversight agencies.
  • Implementing safety programs and representing ATC interests on various safety boards.
  • Collaborating with safety personnel to enhance mid-air collision avoidance initiatives.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a valid Air Traffic Control Specialist Certificate and a Control Tower Certificate, along with a current FAA class II medical certificate. Experience in managing air traffic control operations and leading personnel is essential.

Additional Information
This position is a permanent role within the infrastructure of the Air National Guard and does not involve mobilization for military missions. Candidates must meet all eligibility requirements to be considered for this position.
