Job Summary

Axient is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our team. As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for performing various Systems Engineering activities, including developing SE procedures and processes, requirements management, configuration management, tracking metrics, risk management, technical review, developing and reviewing Systems Engineering plans, documentation, and contract deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical leadership and guidance to team members
  • Establishing, refining, and documenting technical and Systems Engineering processes
  • Developing and reviewing Systems Engineering and Management Plans
  • Developing system engineering work products, including requirements, architecture, APIs, sequence diagrams, use cases, scenarios, test plans, metrics, decision tracking, and risks
  • Collaborating with Researchers and Technical Leads to identify Goals, Objectives, Success Criteria, Measures of Effectiveness (MoEs), Measures of Performance (MoPs), and Key Performance Parameters (KPPs)
  • Developing and refining Use Cases and Scenarios, and tracing them to high-level objectives and system requirements
  • Developing and updating System Architectures and Requirements
  • Requirements management, including developing, updating, allocating, tracking implementation, and controlling changes
  • Requirements verification and validation
  • Mentoring and training team members on Systems Engineering practices, processes, and application
  • Identifying, tracking, and assessing technical risks and developing mitigations
  • Configuration Management
  • Project milestones and schedule reporting and maintenance
  • Reviewing contractor deliverables for requirements verification
  • Developing, reviewing, and approving Test Plans
  • Analyzing test data and documenting metrics and close-out reports
  • Tech Transfer documentation development
  • Interface and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) management, including defining, documenting, and controlling

Requirements

  • Ability to understand project needs, goals, and objectives and translate them into a technical solution
  • 5 years of experience in Systems Engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field
  • In-depth familiarity with systems engineering
  • Experience as a technical lead with system-level responsibilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to present information clearly to a diverse audience
  • Current U.S. citizenship or U.S. person status

Preferred Qualifications

  • Software development experience
  • Familiarity with Air Traffic Management within the National Airspace System
  • Knowledge of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), Urban Air Mobility (UAM), and/or Advanced Air Mobility (AAM)
  • NASA systems engineering processes and requirements
  • Agile software management and development
  • Depth and knowledge of aeronautics
  • Confluence and Atlassian tools
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
