This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Warehouse Department, ensuring the efficient management of inventory, shipping, and receiving functions. Key Responsibilities- Manage the daily operations of the Warehouse Department, including inventory management, shipping, and receiving functions.
- Develop and implement plans to achieve departmental goals and objectives, as per budget.
- Enforce company policies and procedures, including safety policies, GMPs, HACCP, and AIB standards.
- Assume an active role in Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and other company initiatives.
- Schedule production to meet customer orders.
- Convey concerns to the Plant Manager regarding timely delivery of goods and production.
- Ensure adequate suppliers are available for production needs and requirements.
- Ensure the warehouse is properly organized to meet regulatory standards.
- Perform safety and sanitation audits.
- Develop and implement improvements and changes in work instructions, job descriptions, and training needs.
- Maintain administrative paperwork current regarding schedules, inspections, inventories, and management reports.
- Recommend the hiring of personnel and oversee special job training.
- Keep employees informed on factors relating to their work assignments, work progress, and opportunities for advancement.
- Evaluate, as deemed necessary by the company, the performance of new and existing employees.
- Schedule vacations for warehouse supervisors and employees.
- Establish and maintain productivity standards.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Bachelor's degree in warehouse management, logistics, business, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in Warehouse/Logistics/Shipping.
- Bakery or food/beverage environment preferred.
- With a minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory/managerial capacity in a logistics/manufacturing environment.
- Any equivalent combination of related education or experience may be considered.
- Extensive experience in warehouse/logistics management roles with a proven track record in leading teams to improve continuously the efficiency of methods.
- Experience and exposure to regulatory inspections (AIB, OSHA, MILITARY, Health Dept., EPA, City & County Inspectors).
- Experience with Quality Systems and Programs.
- Lean Manufacturing Theory (Preferred).
- Familiar with Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Team management/leadership/development skills, including the ability to manage people in an organization matrix and get the best out of them, successful in building and mentoring high-performance teams.
- Maturity, self-confidence, and strong communication skills will be critical for this role.
- A multicultural approach to operating in a diverse business environment. Comfortable communicating and operating within an internationally matrixed environment.
- Budget preparation and Cost analysis.
- SAP & Kronos knowledge preferred.
- Be able to walk long distances and to be on his/her feet for long periods of time.
- Able to work in dusty, noisy, hot, cold, and small areas.
- Ability to work flexible hours including holidays and weekends.
- Strong Computer skills including Microsoft Office Applications.
- Effectively communicate in Spanish and English both verbal and written (desirable depending on region).
