Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure academic success of students.
  • Evaluate and monitor students' progress on a periodic basis.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to ensure student success.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes social-emotional learning and character development.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an institution accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools or an equivalent agency.
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate or Michigan Temporary Teaching Authorization (T2EA), Social Studies (RX) endorsement, and Social Science (CX).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Studies Education or a related field.
  • Experience teaching Social Studies in an urban school setting.
  • Knowledge of Michigan Common Core standards and curriculum design.
