Job Summary

The Flexographic Press Operator is responsible for the set-up and operation of printing equipment to meet quality and productivity requirements per customer specification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviews job tickets to perform setup and operation of flexographic printing press to meet quality and productivity requirements per customer specification
  • Completes documentation in an accurate manner
  • Changes and installs print cylinders and anilox rolls
  • Changes deck parts and ink pumps
  • Sets print cylinders into register
  • Checks proper tension settings, verifies repeat lengths are correct, curl is minimized, adhesive weights are correct, and roll appearance and colors are correct
  • Ensures quality and safe operation of equipment
  • Completes processes within allotted set-up time
  • Setups and uses AVT system
  • Uses QC tools to test protocols to monitor quality
  • Monitors viscosity control
  • Colors match each color to customer specification
  • Completes viscosity control log
  • Trains press assistant
  • Follows AIB guidelines
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety instructions
  • Participates in ongoing CI and Focus improvement processes

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to read standard and metric measuring tape

Experience:

  • Minimum two years' experience working on flexographic print presses
  • Master level of technical skills

Physical Demands:

  • This position has operations that require muscular coordination, proper lifting techniques, and required lifting up to 75 pounds time to time. Hoist is available for use.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, and bend
  • Must be able to use measuring tape
  • Must be able to understand and carry out detailed written and verbal instructions
  • Must be able to clearly communicate using production reports and other documents to transfer what transpired during a shift such as material usage, time management, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Must be able to accurately identify color defects or shadings in print quality

Work Environment:

  • The noise level in the working environment is usually loud (80-90 decibels)
  • The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes and airborne particles
  • Pinch points, nips, gears, rollers, heat, razor sharp shear knives

2nd Shift (2 pm to 10 pm)

$2 hour shift premium
