Service Counter Position

Employment Type: Temporary – Full Time

Work Schedule: Shifts may vary. Current needs include:

Morning Shift: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, available any day for 5 days a week.

or

Evening Shift: 12:15 PM - 8:45 PM, available any day for 5 days a week.

Compensation: $16.00 per hour.

Job Overview:

Welcome customers with a warm greeting. Seek assistance when customers arrive at the counter without being acknowledged.

Prepare orders according to established recipes.

Clean dishes after use.

Maintain cleanliness of counters and surrounding areas.

Prepare food items as necessary, including backup preparations.

Craft espresso beverages using the espresso machine.

Blend drinks according to recipes using blenders.

Produce fresh juices as per recipe using a juicer.

Ensure the floor in the deli area is clean and free from debris, particularly around the Hot Bar and Salad Bar.

Keep the glass surfaces of the Deli and Bakery cases clean using appropriate cleaning materials.

Assist customers with kiosk orders when required.

Restock paper goods for customer use, including plates, cups, napkins, and utensils, ensuring these items are replenished at the end of each shift.

Required Skills and Experience:

  1. Respond promptly to customer needs and manage challenging or emotional situations effectively, providing quick, friendly, and efficient service.
  2. Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  3. Contribute positively to team dynamics.
  4. Previous experience in natural foods retail is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Identify customer needs: Engage customers using the 10/4 Rule: Make eye contact within 10 feet and greet them within 4 feet.
  2. Accurately and enthusiastically retrieve products for customers or guide them to the appropriate area.
  3. Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  4. Be productive and efficient in tasks.
  5. Understand and support the company's mission and core values.
  6. Follow and enforce company policies and procedures as outlined in the team member handbook.
  7. Ensure all team members adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
  8. Provide a 100% satisfactory customer experience by following the 3 Steps to Excellent Service.
  9. Handle complaints effectively using the 5 Steps to Complaint Resolution.
  10. Collaborate with team members to ensure overall business success.
  11. Communicate professionally and courteously with all team members.
  12. Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Follow management directions and instructions.
  2. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Standing: Constantly.
  2. Walking: Frequently (e.g., in kitchen and deli areas).
  3. Climbing: Occasionally (e.g., ladders up to 6 feet).
  4. Lifting: Frequently up to 15 pounds, occasionally up to 25 pounds.
  5. Carrying: Frequently up to 15 pounds, occasionally up to 25 pounds.
  6. Pushing/Pulling: Occasionally up to 50 pounds (e.g., transporting food and materials).
  7. Stooping, bending, and kneeling: Occasionally.

Work Environment:

  1. Primarily works indoors in air-conditioned settings, including kitchen and deli areas, with exposure to heat from cooking equipment.
  2. Occasionally works in refrigerated areas, such as walk-in chill boxes and freezers.
  3. May work outdoors in covered and uncovered areas, with exposure to vehicle emissions and weather conditions.
