About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Behavioral Support Specialist to join our team at BEAM LLC. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in providing direct support to students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct Support to Students: Provide individualized support to students with special needs, promoting their social, emotional, and academic growth.
  • Participate in Activities: Engage in activities planned by school district staff, including instructional training and in-class activities.
  • Assist with Instructional Activities: Assist school district staff in preparing and developing instructional training activities and materials.
  • Maintain a Safe and Organized Environment: Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom environment, ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
  • Collaborate with Staff: Work cooperatively with students, school district staff, and administration to ensure a positive and productive learning environment.
Requirements
  • Education: Proof of High School Diploma or equivalency; or proof of an A.A. degree, 48 college units; or pass the Paraeducator Exam.
  • Experience: Recent experience in working with groups, such as youth groups, child centers, or playgrounds, and/or experience requiring organizational skills is desirable.
  • Skills: Ability to understand and anticipate the needs of children, operate classroom technology equipment, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with children and adults.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Regularly lift 1-15 lbs., occasionally lift 26-40 lbs., and regularly carry/push 1-15 lbs., occasionally carry/push 26-40 lbs.
  • Mental Demands: Occasional stress of emergencies, normal work standards stress, and ability to work with interruptions.
