Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine patrols of the college grounds, performing safety checks on emergency exits, lighting, and fire extinguishers. Monitor surveillance systems and respond to service requests from the campus community.
  • Act as a first responder to various incidents, including policy enforcement, medical emergencies, and legal violations, while collaborating with external agencies as needed.
  • Facilitate armed escorts for the secure transport of college assets.
  • Manage parking and traffic regulations, providing assistance and control as necessary.
  • Initiate preliminary investigations into suspicious activities, gathering pertinent information to determine appropriate actions.
  • Provide security for special events, ensuring compliance with policies related to crowd management and the use of college facilities.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including the completion of incident reports and communication relay.
  • Utilize firearms only as a last resort for self-defense or the protection of others.
  • Participate in all required training sessions to maintain skills and knowledge.
  • In the absence of supervisory personnel, offer guidance to fellow security officers.
  • May require travel to other campuses for duties.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Job Type: Full-Time, 12-Month, Non-Exempt

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, along with at least one year of experience in law enforcement, security, or a related field. Alternatively, a combination of education and experience that enables the successful performance of job duties is acceptable.

Licensing Requirements:

PA Act 235 Lethal Weapons with Firearm or Act 120 certification is required prior to employment. Additional certifications, including OCAT, Expandable Baton, CPR & AED, First-Aid, and PATH Handcuffing, will be obtained post-hire.

Physical Requirements:

Candidates must successfully complete the Security Department Physical Fitness Program. The role typically involves standing, walking, lifting, and other physical activities, with the potential for exposure to various environmental conditions.
