Job Summary

WellSpan Health is seeking a highly skilled Security Officer to join our team in York, PA. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for patients, employees, visitors, and other customers of the System.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intrusion.
  • Respond to emergency situations such as accidents and injuries, fire alarms, crimes in progress, and safety hazards.
  • Provide assistance, summon proper authorities, and police area to maintain order, safety, and to protect property.
  • Monitor the conduct of visitors on premises and confront unauthorized persons for questioning as needed.
  • Secure and/or unlock offices and facilities.
  • Support the parking policy, enforcing parking regulations, providing traffic management, and performing other related duties.
  • Comply with all department and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  • Perform Security Operations duties as assigned.
  • Secure patient valuables and found property.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and factual incident reports.
  • Ensure all documentation is submitted as required prior to end of shift.
  • Complete vehicle checklist.
  • Complete monthly inspections as required to include but not limited to panic alarm inspections, fire extinguisher inspections, door alarm inspections to include supporting documentation.
  • Complete security access requests within the badge access control system as needed.
  • Will be willing and capable of working at any post within an assigned setting.
  • Assist with the daily operations of the shift to include but not limited to documentation, patrols, responses, post assignments, escalation of incidents, and serves as a Charge Officer as needed.
  • Provide administrative support for programs and policy implementation.
  • In the absence of a Supervisor or Security Officer III, conducts shift huddles reviewing incidents from previous shift, current situational awareness information, and upcoming events requiring security intervention and/or assistance.
  • Assist Supervisors by ensuring appropriate staffing for oncoming shift if necessary.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 years WellSpan Security Officer Experience in good standing or 2 years A combination of experience in good standing: WellSpan Security Officer Experience, Other Healthcare Security Officer, Other Security Officer Experience, Military Experience, or Law Enforcement Experience (includes police, corrections, and probation/parole).
  • Heartsaver First Aid CPR/AED within 90 days or Basic Life Support within 90 days.
  • Valid driver's license in the current state of residence.
Training and Development
  • FEMA ISP: IS 100.
  • Intro to Incident Command System, I 100 FEMA ISP: IS 200.
  • Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response FEMA ISP: IS 242.
  • Effective Communication within 90 days.
  • Practical and Tactical Handcuffing within 90 days.
  • Oleoresin Capsicum (Gel) within 90 days.
  • Taser within 90 days.
  • Behavioral Emergency Response Training (BERT) within 90 days.
