Job Summary:

The Elementary Education Teacher will facilitate the critical role of being the instructional leader in the classroom of approximately 9-12 students exhibiting significant behaviors that interfere with their own learning or that of their peers. These students require placement in a more supportive environment, specifically an ESE Self-contained classroom, which represents a more restrictive educational setting.

Responsibilities:
  1. Instructional Leadership: Follows and applies all Danielson instructional framework protocols to provide best instructional practices to ensure learning for all students.
  2. IEP Team Participation: Participates as an integral member of the IEP team, creating drafts for IEP goals utilizing data collected from the classroom, parents, therapists, and other members of the IEP team.
  3. Data-Driven Instruction: Collects and uses data to determine the effects of learning experiences on students' development and approaches to learning and adapts as needed.
  4. Instructional Design: Provides instruction in both standard and modified curriculum pathways/Access Points.
  5. Assessment and Evaluation: Assesses and uses data from both standard and modified assessment pathways.
  6. Behavioral Support: Facilitates and leads classroom teams through the development and implementation of functional behavior assessments/behavior interventions plans and crisis plans for identified students.
  7. Social Skills Instruction: Provides social skills instruction to students utilizing research-based methodologies and approved district curricula.
  8. Classroom Management: Implements and coaches classroom personnel on research-based methods of classroom management and behavioral strategies.
  9. Reporting and Documentation: Completes all reporting requirements as mandated by the district, state, federal, and educational agencies.
  10. Student Support: Assists with student crisis intervention and uses and models research-based classroom management and individualized behavioral interventions.
  11. Communication and Collaboration: Clearly communicates with families regarding students' progress, actively involves family members in planning strategies for enhancing students' progress, and maintains a positive, collaborative relationship with students' families.
  12. Professional Development: Participates in team meetings/professional learning and school-based activities.
  13. Classroom Environment: Maintains a classroom that reflects discovery and use of materials and is clean and well-maintained.
  14. Professional Conduct: Demonstrates attention to punctuality, attendance, deadlines, compliance with policies and procedures, Code of Ethics, and exercises appropriate professional judgment.
