Job Summary:

The Elementary Education Teacher will facilitate the critical role of being the instructional leader in the classroom, providing best instructional practices to ensure learning for all students. This includes planning and preparation, classroom environment, instruction, and professional responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students, incorporating technology and art integration as necessary.
  2. Participate as an integral member of the IEP team, creating drafts for IEP goals utilizing data collected from the classroom, parents, therapists, and other members of the IEP team.
  3. Collect and use data to determine the effects of learning experiences on student development and approaches to learning, adapting as needed.
  4. Provide instruction in both standard and modified curriculum pathways/Access Points.
  5. Assess and use data from both standard and modified assessment pathways.
  6. Facilitate and lead classroom teams through the development and implementation of functional behavior assessments/behavior interventions plans and crisis plans for identified students.
  7. Provide social skills instruction to students utilizing research-based methodologies and approved district curricula.
  8. Implement and coach classroom personnel on research-based methods of classroom management and behavioral strategies.
  9. Complete all reporting requirements as mandated by the district, state, federal, and educational agencies.
  10. Collect behavioral data.
  11. Assist with student crisis intervention.
  12. Use and model research-based classroom management and individualized behavioral interventions.
  13. Clearly communicate with families regarding students' progress, actively involving family members in planning strategies for enhancing student progress.
  14. Participate in team meetings/professional learning and school-based activities.
  15. Maintain a classroom that reflects discovery and use of materials and is clean and well maintained.
  16. Demonstrate attention to punctuality, attendance, deadlines, compliance with policies and procedures, Code of Ethics, and exercises appropriate professional judgment.
  17. Ensure and provide basic care giving duties for students.
  18. Apply local and state approved protocols integrating technology and making necessary modifications to media and technology to accommodate all students' needs.
  19. Integrate art into curriculum and learning experiences including necessary modifications to accommodate all students' needs.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, training in applied behavior analysis or agreement to complete the LEA approved training within a designated time frame, and a Florida Professional Teaching Certificate Elementary Education or PreK-3rd (based on grades taught). Additionally, you must have an Exceptional Education Endorsement and ESOL Endorsement (or in process) and a minimum of 1 to 3 years teaching experience in a similar setting.
