Role Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive interviews with patients to assess eligibility for various financial assistance programs.
  • Evaluate and determine the appropriate methods of payment, including Medicaid and Medicare.
  • Perform financial verification and gather necessary documentation to support patient applications.
  • Maintain accurate records of eligibility reviews, approvals, and denials.
  • Process Medicaid applications for presumptive eligibility within designated timeframes.
  • Initiate and maintain patient medical records with all required documentation.
  • Educate patients about the services available at Sunrise Community Health Center, including billing policies and patient rights.
  • Provide guidance on community resources for financial assistance and make appropriate referrals.
  • Regularly review the eligibility status of established patients and update their information as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and funding source requirements.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA standards.
  • Assist with patient scheduling and follow-up communications to ensure a smooth clinic flow.
  • Support the team in various administrative tasks, including checking in patients and collecting co-pays.
  • Participate in outreach efforts, including voter registration assistance as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in third-party billing and state-funded programs.
  • At least 2 years of clerical experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
