Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled General Trades Technician I to join our team at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the building's exterior and interior integrity, including the building shell, walls, ceilings, and flooring systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform repair tasks related to the building shell and all systems integrated in that shell, including floors, floor coverings, ceilings, walls, doors, windows, and related hardware.
  • Assist departments throughout the hospital system via the work request system, performing general trades-related or other work that cannot be completed by the requesting department.
  • Prepare estimates pertaining to material and labor costs and order material for such estimates and shop stock as needed.
  • Work with other engineering trades, hospital personnel, and outside contractors/vendors as needed.
  • Perform minor electrical work when necessary, including troubleshooting and repairing low-voltage door controls, access systems, and changing light bulbs.
  • Perform general repair work in connection with the maintenance of hospital equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance of shop equipment as needed.
  • Assist other hospital departments through the work request system, keeping an accurate daily log of hours used and work performed.
  • Inventory and order material as needed.
Requirements
  • High school graduate
  • Two years of commercial experience
  • Valid driver's license required
Working Conditions

The General Trades Technician I will work indoors and outdoors, exposed to dust, dirt, grease, unpleasant weather, hot, and confined work areas.
