General Trades Technician I

Job Summary
The General Trades Technician I is responsible for maintaining the building's exterior and interior integrity, including the building shell, walls, ceilings, floors, and related systems. This role involves performing repairs, replacements, and installations as needed, as well as assisting other departments with work requests.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform monthly and quarterly inspections on systems as assigned via the PM system.
- Repair/install shelving, casework, and specialized furniture or equipment to specific drawings on request.
- Install/remove artwork, bulletin boards, certificates, computer mounting hardware, etc. as requested by oral or written instruction.
- Maintain systems as required by NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 80, Joint Commission Surveys, ODH, and other regulatory agencies.
- Work with other Engineering trades, hospital personnel, and outside contractors/vendors as needed.
- Perform minor electrical work when necessary/able to include: trouble shoot/repair low voltage door controls, access systems, and change light bulbs.
- Perform general repair work in connection with the maintenance of hospital equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance of shop equipment as needed. Keep shop and work areas clutter free to maintain a safe work environment.
- Assist other hospital departments through the work request system, keeping an accurate daily log of hours used and work performed. Enter all information in the work order system and close out completed work orders as required.
- Inventory and order material as needed.
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School graduate
- Two (2) years commercial experience
- Valid driver's license required
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from a trade program
- Miscellaneous installation/repair certifications from vendors
Work Environment
The General Trades Technician I works indoors and outdoors, exposed to dust, dirt, grease, unpleasant weather, hot and confined work areas. The position requires standing, listening, viewing, talking, walking, climbing, lifting (up to 100 lbs.), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and reaching frequently.
