Role Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our team in the Critical Care Unit located in Manhattan. The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering, coordinating, and ensuring comprehensive nursing care, utilizing the nursing process and relevant care standards. This includes diagnosing illnesses and physical conditions, as well as implementing therapeutic, corrective, and prescriptive measures for both inpatient and outpatient populations, in collaboration with a designated physician.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and organize care plans tailored to individual patient needs, ensuring efficient use of clinical resources.
  2. Monitor cost-effectiveness and performance metrics related to the role.
  3. Assist in the design, execution, and assessment of research protocols when applicable.
  4. Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary teams to create and implement clinical studies.
  5. Utilize evidence-based literature to inform and support practice modifications.
  6. Engage in the development and assessment of patient outcomes in alignment with established protocols for quality improvement.
  7. Serve as a clinical expert and resource for the education of peers and healthcare professionals.
  8. Maintain up-to-date expertise in the field of practice.
  9. Encourage personal professional growth and development in both clinical and managerial capacities.
  10. Consider the needs and behaviors of diverse patient age groups and cultural backgrounds in all care practices.
  11. Evaluate treatment plans for effectiveness and adjust as necessary based on clinical standards.
  12. Function as a collaborative member of the healthcare team, adhering to medical staff regulations and bylaws.
  13. Prescribe necessary medical equipment, therapies, and home health services according to established protocols.
  14. Work closely with attending physicians to develop and implement care plans that prioritize patient and family preferences.
  15. Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including medical history and psychosocial evaluations.
  16. Participate in activities related to professional nursing standards and regulatory compliance.
  17. Facilitate continuity of care across various service settings.
  18. Provide guidance to nursing staff regarding therapeutic regimens.
  19. Collaborate with nursing leadership to ensure effective communication with the nursing team.
  20. Engage with families and other healthcare disciplines to maintain clear communication regarding patient care.

Qualifications:
Licensure: Current registration as a Professional Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in New York.
Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing.
Certification: Required certification by ANCC or another recognized specialty organization following graduation from an NP program. BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certification are also required.

Preferred Qualifications:
At least five years of clinical nursing experience in the relevant patient population. Previous nurse practitioner experience is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, critical thinking, and leadership abilities. Membership in professional organizations is desirable.
