Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Metallurgical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Charter Manufacturing Company, Inc. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Document and prepare samples for testing and metallurgical evaluation, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Conduct sample analysis and testing, documenting findings to assist in identifying potential issues.
  • Maintain accurate sample identification throughout the investigation process.
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance to ensure optimal lab equipment performance.
  • Partner with Operations personnel and other labs to assist in identifying root cause(s) and implementing solutions.
  • Collaborate with Technical Service Engineers and TS Lab management to respond to customer requests.
  • Adhere to Environmental, Quality, and Safety Management System procedures and requirements.
  • Complete all required training courses to maintain expertise and stay up-to-date with industry developments.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One plus year of experience in a metallurgical lab environment as an analyst/associate/technician.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build constructive relationships with colleagues.
  • High level of attention to detail, self-direction, and self-initiative.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to think analytically.
  • Knowledgeable about the safe handling of acids, bases, and solvents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (i.e., Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering-related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability in advanced microscopy (lighting, image stitching, EFI, HDR, etc.).
  • One plus year of steelmaking experience.
Organizational Relationships
  • Reports to the TS Lab Manager.
  • Collaborates with other lab analysts, Technical Service Engineers, and Operations personnel.
