We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Head Start/Head Start Teacher Aide to join our team at the University of Kansas Medical Center. As a key member of our early childhood program, you will play a vital role in supporting the daily operation of our classrooms, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for children aged 0-5.
Key Responsibilities- Assist teachers in preparing educational materials and setting up classrooms for daily activities, supporting classroom staff, children, and parents.
- Supervise children under your care at all times to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Rotate from classroom to classroom as needed or required, following all established organizational and classroom-specific policies and procedures.
- Provide a supportive social-emotional classroom climate, promoting oral and physical health, and responding to emergencies/crises.
- Assist in food preparation, serving, and clean-up, adhering to all Head Start Performance Standards, Kansas Child Care Licensing Regulations, and Educare Learning Network core features.
- Meet one of the following educational requirements: Child Development Associate (CDA) or Early Childhood Certificate, College Degree in any field and 9 Early Childhood credits, or at least one year of teaching experience in the Early Childhood field and willingness to participate in higher education (CDA, Early Childhood Certificate, or Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field within 2 years).
- Ability to move up to 50 pounds with or without accommodations.
- Ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified within 30 days of employment (paid for by employer).
- Pass background check including fingerprinting.
- Associate Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education from an accredited College or University.
- Experience working with children aged 0-3 and 3-5.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, health expense accounts, employer-paid life insurance, long-term disability insurance, and various additional voluntary insurance plans. Paid time off, including vacation and sick leave, begins accruing upon hire, plus ten paid holidays. One paid discretionary day is available after six months of employment, and paid time off for bereavement, jury duty, military service, and parental leave is available after 12 months of employment. A retirement program with a generous employer contribution and additional voluntary retirement programs (457 or 403b) are available.
CompensationThe anticipated starting salary for this position is $20.25 per hour, with a pay range of $20.25 to $26.33 per hour.
