Job Title: Early Childhood Educator

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team at the University of Kansas Medical Center. As an Early Childhood Educator, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality early childhood education to young children and their families.

Job Summary:

The Early Childhood Educator will be responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating a comprehensive education program for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. This includes developing and implementing individualized lesson plans, providing a safe and nurturing environment, and collaborating with families to build mutually respectful relationships.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom activities and environment that support the developmental and educational goals of children's individual education plans.
  • Support children to develop positive social relationships, provide opportunities for children to develop positive self-images, and help children develop conflict resolution skills.
  • Partner with families to build mutually respectful goal-oriented relationships that support strong parent-child relationships, family well-being, and ongoing learning and development for both parents and children.
  • Ensure the timely completion of necessary paperwork, including developmental assessments, lesson plans, parent information, incident/accident reports, attendance, and USDA meal counts.
  • Use classroom and school data to improve teaching practice, provide a high-quality early learning experience for children, and ensure school readiness.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a closely related field.
  • At least 2 years' experience in early childhood education.
  • Ability to work with an interdisciplinary team as a cooperative and supportive team member.
  • Ability to provide leadership to the classroom team and ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner while collaborating with other members of the classroom team.
  • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in a manner that fosters supportive relationships with staff, families, and children from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Early childhood teaching certification or graduate coursework/degree.
  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a closely related field.
  • Experience working in an Early Head Start or Head Start Center-based program.
  • Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards.
