About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Officer to join our Global Policy & Advocacy (GPA) division. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the public policy debates affecting our work and building support for our major program and policy objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and coordinate the execution of advocacy and communications strategies to advance our program goals.
  • Use leadership and foundation voice to implement advocacy strategies and engage with sector leaders, influencers, media, and government officials.
  • Manage a grant portfolio dedicated to achieving advocacy outcomes and lead issue-specific communications in service of advocacy goals.
  • Analyze the current portfolio and identify opportunities to meet the needs of our program strategy teams for scale and impact.
  • Work closely with our FP, MNCH, and PHC program teams to align on advocacy priorities and metrics for impact, finding innovative and creative advocacy strategies anchored in evidence.
  • Track progress with policy impact and build momentum towards fast-tracking progress for FP, MNCH, and PHC goals, including improved metrics.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the landscape of advocacy partners for MNCH, FP, PHC, with a specific focus on LMICs, using the changing global context and exploring linkages with other sectors like climate, technology, etc.
  • Represent the foundation to external constituencies, including formal and informal presentations, and write informative briefings and reports on key areas and other relevant issues for foundation leadership.
Requirements
  • Exceptional knowledge, experience, and expertise in technical advocacy and communications related to addressing policy advocacy, particularly in the FP, MNCH, and PHC ecosystems.
  • Experience in working with integrated programs across the lifecycle of reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health, with a preference for work experience in an LMIC.
  • Experience and/or proven track record in engaging with government, donors, development partners, private sector in the FP, MNCH, and/or PHC program areas.
  • Experience communicating around policy and advocacy efforts specific to FP, MNCH, and PHC, and working with governments, academic institutions, NGOs, the private sector, media, and government.
  • Understanding of bilateral and multilateral institutions and mechanisms, including how they fund FP, MNCH, PHC, health development programs at national and regional levels.
  • Experience in building ecosystems in FP, MNCH, PHC or other areas is an added plus.
  • Exceptional project management skills, including demonstrated ability to lead teams and organizations from strategy development through execution, develop shared goals and execution plans, facilitate meetings, manage budgets, develop partner consensus, and work both autonomously and collaboratively.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $137,500 to $206,200 USD, with a range of $149,800 to $224,600 USD for locations in Seattle and Washington D.C. We recognize high-wage market differences in these locations. As a mission-driven organization, we strive to balance competitive pay with our mission. New hires' salaries are typically between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint. Actual placement in the range will depend on a candidate's job-related skills, experience, and expertise, as evaluated during the interview process.
