Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at West Ada School District. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that meets the individual needs of students with diverse abilities.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of students.
Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student learning.
Use evidence-based instructional strategies and technologies to enhance student engagement and academic achievement.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment.

Requirements
Proper certification for the position, as required by the State of Idaho.
Approval as a finalist through the district's screening process.
Ability to communicate proficiently in English, both verbally and in writing.
Capacity to read and understand work-related materials.
Ability to observe and monitor student activities and conduct throughout the instructional day.

Working Conditions
The Special Education Teacher will work in a school setting, interacting with students, staff, and parents.
The position requires the ability to lift or move objects that weigh up to 25 pounds.
A valid Idaho Driver's license and a vehicle for job-related activities are required.

Evaluation and Professional Growth
The Special Education Teacher will be evaluated annually by the supervisor.
Participation in in-service activities and other professional growth opportunities is expected.

Terms of Employment
Regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
The position is subject to the terms and provisions of the Standard Teachers' Contract.

Essential Physical Abilities
Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing to communicate effectively.
Sufficient visual acuity to comprehend written work and assessments.
Sufficient manual dexterity to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm motions.
Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility, and balance to work in an office environment.
Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, lift, finger, and grasp.

Competency Requirements

Abide by the Code of Ethics for the Teaching Profession.
Comply with the requirements of Idaho Code regarding teacher conduct.
Adhere to confidentiality with regard to student information.
Attend faculty meetings and conferences as directed.
Establish and maintain good working habits, including punctuality.
Implement the beliefs, mission statement, objectives, and parameters of the District's strategic plan.

Qualifications
Proper certification, as required by the State of Idaho.

Capable of accomplishing identified Performance Responsibilities.
Must be able to communicate proficiently in English.
Ability to read and understand work-related materials.
Ability to speak and communicate clearly in lessons to students and with peers, supervisors, patrons, and parents/guardians.
Able to accomplish simple mathematical concepts.
Ability to observe and monitor student activities and conduct throughout the instructional day.
